Comparison of Warm And Cool Mist Humidifiers

Warm versus cool mist humidifiers.

Humidifiers are valuable tools made to condition and increase moisture levels in the environment we live in. They help u maintain an improved moisture levels which are generally healthy for our survival. There exists different type of moisture generating humidifier. The most common technologies of these tools are the warm and moist mist humidifiers. Both of these humidifiers play an invaluable role in certifying that the air we breathe is not dry and thus we enjoy the benefits of a healthy humidity rich environment. Dry air can be a cause to health problems such as sore throats skin problems and respiratory diseases. Other than health problems, dry air has also been associated with causing damage to our environment especially to wooden structures in homes and offices. Both technologies however are different in their operation and others specifications even though they are both used for the same purpose. Below are the major contrasts between the warm and cool mist humidifiers.

Operation Cool mist humidifiers

These humidifiers support both the ultrasonic and the evaporative technologies. The cool mist humidifier has a wick which acts as an absorber and a fan for its operation. The wick absorbs water as the fan concentrates the air around a filter. These actions lead to evaporation of water in the environment of use. This water is in form of invisible mist at room temperatures. The Ultra sonic humidifiers use vibrations to form mist which is dispersed equally to the surrounding areas. The operation of this humidifier is easy and maintenance costs are minimal.
In their operation, the cool mist humidifiers are known to produce noise. This is because they use a fan to blow air in the room of use the noise is usually a result of the rotating fan.

Warm mist humidifiers

This type of humidifier uses hot water to produce moisture. The water is heated in the humidifier then dissipated to the environment at favorable temperatures. This type of humidifier releases a healthy cool breeze without bacteria due to the boiling process which kills bacteria in the water. Other technologies of the warm mist humidifier include the germ free humidifiers which are made with antimicrobial technologies that kill harmful microorganisms. These types of humidifiers are normally preferred due to their ability to increase the moisture content of air to high levels that are normally vital for preservation purposes of some commodities such as cigars.

Energy consumption cool mist humidifiers

In terms of electricity consumption, the cool mist humidifier is considered to be efficient as it does not use electricity in processes like boiling water. These types of humidifiers have a different technology. They use an ultrasonic vibration to release moisture while others use a rotating mechanism to emit moisture. The evaporative humidifier uses a fan for its operation .the fan directs air towards a wet wick after which it is released to the environment.

Warm mist humidifier

It uses electricity to produce wet air or humidity. This is because boiling of water is one of the major processes before the moisture is released to the environment. This type of humidifier certainly consumes more electricity for its operation.

Health

The warm mist humidifier is considered to be more effective in the area of health. This is because the technology used involves boiling of water which kills microorganisms in the water before it is released. For this reason the warm mist humidifier is better than the cool mist humidifier.

Safety

This refers to how safe the humidifier is during the time of operation.
Warm mist humidifiers are conceived to be dangerous especially around children due to their specifics in boiling water. Boiled water can cause burns if spilled and left unattended.
The cool mist evaporative humidifiers also cause the surrounding air to feel a lot colder when used in cold days.

Cost

Due to the boiling technology incorporated in the warm mist humidifier, this machine becomes relatively expensive than the cool mist humidifier. The cost of operation is also high as it uses a lot of power to form moisture and is also more complicated in structure than the cool mist humidifier. Cleaning the warm mist humidifier is also required as the boiling process mostly leaves mineral deposits in the system.

Size of operation areas

Cold mist humidifiers are often best suited for larger areas than the warm mist humidifiers which work best in small rooms such as offices and bedrooms. However, the warm humidifiers are highly considered in colder regions.
